Comments about Campmor Women's Storm Venture Waterproof/Breathable Rain Parka: I am active with a local search and rescue team in New Mexico. We don't regularly have rainy conditions, but during monsoon season we tend to have afternoon torrential rain storms that hit the mountains. This jacket WORKS. Wearing a heavy pack and hiking up a steep grade the pit zips are perfect for allowing perspiration to evaporate. The hood can be adjusted to fit a climbing helmet and the stiff front lid keeps the rain from getting into your eyes. This is the best rain jacket for the price I have tested. I won't go into the back country without this one. I did a lot of research and tested out lots of 'high end' rain jackets...this one excelled in price and quality over ALL of them. Keep in mind New Mexico has a typically dry atmosphere so I don't know how well this jacket would fare in a typically humid environment. As much as this jacket repelled water and kept me dry, in a more humid environment I don't think there is a jacket that would be 100% perfect.

Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about Campmor Women's Storm Venture Waterproof/Breathable Rain Parka: I bought this to be a lightweight breathable but waterproof raincoat for a trip to Costa Rica. It fit well over a light sweatshirt as needed but wasn't too big by itself. It was very comfortable in light drizzle and wearing it over a long sleeved shirt. With just a tank top under, after a whole day of solid downpour, I felt like my arms were damp (maybe from sweat/steam?), however my shirt was dry. It might have been more comfortable if it had a liner, but I opted for this one because I wanted lighter weight. I have never bought a breathable raincoat before, so not sure how others compare. I did like the fit and the features like adjustable hood and pit zips and the size and placement of pockets.

I was impressed by the construction and the feel of the material. There were great features as well (underarm zippers, good hood, elastic ties at hip. It seemed to be a good value for the money given the taped seams and features. I'm not sure how breathable it would be because I never used it, but it didn't seem like it would be...although it would depend in what climate you were in. I think it would be a good travel jacket as it comes with a little stuff sack. As far as how it would hold up in a torrential down pour..I doubt very well.
