Are these normal waisted? I am looking for pants that are NOT low cut, and DON'T sit "just below" the waist. Just plain old normal pants that are practical and useful. Some of us moms need poofy hips because our hips widened during childbirth (even those of us who are not fat). It does happen to most women at some point in their lives. I have looked at everything REI and Sierra Trading Post have, and they are all made for slim 25yo people who have never been pregnant and care more about fashion than usefulness. These have a fairly high rise and the hips are wider in proportion to the waist. A short waisted pant would be 9"-10" these are 12.5"-13"Answered on 8/17/2010 by Steve from CampmorA:
I've never had children, but at 40 I'm not as slim as I was when I was 25 :-) I just received two pairs of these pants, size small, 29" inseam and with a 26" waist, 38" hips and 127-130 lbs these pants fit nicely, I wear a size 6 petite in most pants. The waist was right below my belly button, you can see it, but these are not "low riders" more of what they call a "modern fit". I have hips (38" of them) and the pants complemented my shape.
