Comments about Liberty Vargo Triad Titanium Alcohol Stove:

The big negative in this product is the tri-foot base. If you're setting this up on anything bit solid flat surface, it will collapse. The legs over time will begin to loosen and no longer have that tight fit when packing it back up. Having them loose will result in them folding up under weight and will result in the stove tipping and spilling fuel.

this stove can also burn 90 percent alcohol but that will smoke your pot. Use the denatured and after about 60 sec after u lite it, give the stove a lil tweek on one leg to help set the burners in to gear, I get water to boil in 4-5 here in okla, who cares if takes 5-10 min to boil water, your camping or hikeing, you dont have to punch in or out at the time clock

Comments about Liberty Vargo Triad Titanium Alcohol Stove:

Im not a fan of alcohol stoves mainly due to the amount of time it takes to boil water compared to other options. I love how small the stove is but due to fuel usage if you were hiking for a week the amount of fuel you would have to carry would override the size and weight of the stove. This stove is extremely simple with no moving parts to break down and get clogged, overall well built. This stove would boil water in about 6-7 minutes on a warm day, it is also a must to use a windscreen as to increase efficiency. My other stoves will boil water under 3 minutes.

Comments about Liberty Vargo Triad Titanium Alcohol Stove:

I love it. I cook for 2 and can do it most of the time on one fill. It did take me some time to get use to though. I originally got it for a 2 week trip car camping in spain. After 1 1/2 weeks we ran out of fuel but if did really well. I use it mainly for reheating meals like chili and rehydrating meals, it works great for that. I use it with a Snow Peak Titanium 3 piece pot set witch is small, a ½-liter pot, and a ¾-liter pot with a lid/pan. I wouldn't wont to use it with anything much bigger. I would say it is good for a single camper and can be used for 2. It is one of the smallest and lightest thing I can imagen. The fuel can be a little more weight though.

Awesome for what it is - a no-moving-parts-so-it-cannot-malfunction means of boiling water for backpacking meals. Amazingly lightweight, and does the trick. Perfect for trips where pack weight matters by the ounce, or when you just want to travel light to annoy your friends. Gotta make room for the Platy full of vino somehow.

Comments about Liberty Vargo Triad Titanium Alcohol Stove:

Great for bringing 500ml of water to a boil. Difficult to bring a liter to a boil without refilling with fuel. Fairly low heat flame makes for long cook time. Best use for a solo hiker or one who does not want to cook for friends. Very durable, great idea, needs marginal improvements. Use an old Purell 2oz bottle with Denatured Alcohol to fill the stove and you will almost never waste fuel by spilling. The filling process is time consuming and leaves you prone to spill if not attentive.

Comments about Liberty Vargo Triad Titanium Alcohol Stove:

This little stove is the titanium version of the DIY soda can stove you can build for significantly less. Because I was lazy and didn't want to rig a pot stand or carry an empty tuna can with me, I purchased this thing instead. While it's wicked light and easy to pack, it doesn't perform as well as it's (pressurized) soda can stove counterpart. The fuel doesn't vaporize and "jet" out of the holes as much as it's like a glorified candle. It could be the brand of denatured alcohol I was using (some eco-friendly type from [...]), but the flame just didn't seem to get hot enough. When tested out in the field without a windscreen, the flame wavered all around my pot with nary coming close to a boil. When I got home and tested with a windscreen I achieved boiling in a little under 20 minutes. Overall it functioned ok, but not great. With the added weight of a full bottle (I suggest a squeezy bottle since it's very easy to overflow the indentation and get fuel everywhere), I'd use this as a backup stove, since the total weight isn't too far from other minimalist, but more expensive stove options.

This stove went from being a backup stove to our primary stove. Because there is nothing mechanical that can go wrong it saved us in the Porcupine Mountains. Fill the resevoir with fuel and light. The only downfall is you can't regulate temperature.

How is the stability of the stove when you boil water? My experience with homemade alcohol stoves is that because they are so light they are then very top heavy when they have a pot of boiling water on them. This looks very stable but im just inquiring before I purchase.

When folded out, the stove held my Pinnacle Soloist pot with about a 1/4" around to spare. When filled with water, it weighed the pot down and didn't travel upon boiling or seem like it would fall over due to instability.

            A:

As long as the pot was not out sized for this stove it will be stable. A 4 qt pot would be too big. Also would take a long time to bring to a boil.
