Comments about Timex WS4 “Widescreen” Altimeter Watch: I bought mine in Aug 2010. The compass failed around 6 months later. Timex sent a new watch. Now, April 2012, the compass has failed again, but Timex wants $100 to do anything about it. I can buy a new one for about that price (which I won't - I'm not crazy).The symptoms of the failure match other users description: the compass reads erratically and is way off even after calibration.Don't buy this.

I have had it for a month now... and its still within 1 second of where I originally set it! Every time I check the barometer setting with the local setting, it is RIGHT ON! The Altimeter and Compass (and ALL the features), are also right on! This watch is NO TOY!

1) Band will only go out to 8.5"
2) 2 years less if you use the compass a lot
