If it is especially cold to use under a vapor barrier ( non-breathable) to absorb moisture and ward off clamminess. For extra warmth if unfamiliar with using a vapor barrier it's worth the research. I also just like the idea of wearing natural fabrics and for my purposes being ultra lightweight and quick drying are essential. Quite perfect for this application and my needs.

They are warm and breathable without any "bulkiness". For me, they are a staple in this cold weather climate.

Occasionally I wear them under jeans or sweats around the house if weather is extremely cold. Have also used them as sleepwear on extended hikes. While I don't feel they wear out quickly, I do feel they need to be replaced sooner than expected. Otherwise, many good features at a good price.
