Comments about Sorel Men's Conquest Boots:

I've worn these boots severals times while going on snow trips and my feets have always been warm with just a pair of socks. With a good set of snowpants, these are waterproof. I've also gone snowshoeing in these and they fit well in teh snowshoe buckles and and kept my feet comfortable, warm and dry. Expensive but worth the money. The construction is solid and I expect to use these for a long time.

Comments about Sorel Men's Conquest Boots:

Incredible boot! Couldn't be happier. This isn't your trekking kind of boot. Don't expect it to be. This is the boot you want on your foot when the snow is up to your waist. I have a pair of Merrell's for hiking boots that work great. But when it came to plowing around through the snow, they let in a little too much for comfort.
These Sorel's are impenetrable. A serious boot for serious work. I've worn them several times hiking through 3 feet of snow. With a good pair of snowpants, you'll have nothing to worry about. Never a drop of snow has entered my Sorel's. I've worked for hours in the snow with them and my feet are as dry and comfortable as can be. These boots are also very warm, but not hot.
Can't believe the stories of poor construction. Perhaps consistency is lacking. My boots are in amazing shape and very sturdy. They're like a tank. And when I say impenetrable, I mean it.
However, as I put at the beginning. These boots are better for deep snow and serious work in it. I wouldn't take them on a hiking adventure unless I plan on hiking a mountain. They are just a little too bulky for daily use. I would also not plan on wearing them to work without having an extra set of shoes. My Merrell's can function as around work shoes, these could not. However, if you're like I was and sick of screwing around with cold, wet feet when working in snowy conditions, treat yourself to these boots and never look back!

Comments about Sorel Men's Conquest Boots:

I got my Sorel Conquests about 6 years ago while working as a skilift mechanic. As you can probably imagine, the job involved spending a lot of time outside in the cold. I spent anywhere from 12 to 18 hours per day out and about on the mountain - walking, snowmobiling, and often snowshoeing during my morning checks of lift lines. These boots were simply awesome - warm, very comfortable after they were broken in, and I couldn't believe how light they were.

While I can't say I consider this a con, the boots are a little more trouble to put on and take off than most. However, they're not the type of boots meant to be put on just to go get the mail or shovel the walk - these are meant to stay on your feet all day long. So the extra minute it takes to lace them up really isn't a big deal.

The Achilles straps should have their buckles on the inside of the boot to make adjustment easier. Don't use them until the boots are broken in because they will rub your ankles raw.

2 suggestions to get the best service and longest life out of your Sorel Conquests: 1) Use a shoe dryer every night so the boots are warm & dry when you put them on. This also keeps odors down. 2) Apply beeswax to the leather on a regular basis. I treated mine about every 2 weeks. Get them good and warm then apply the was liberally with your fingers. Pay special attention to seams and around the eyelets.

Within only a few months of serious winter wear up here in Mammoth Lakes... these things... can't even really call them boots... started to come apart at the seams as well as the rubber rind around the inside of the boot started to crack and come apart as well. Super disappointed in Sorel. Not the same company i remembered them being 10 year ago. [*]. Bummer.

Bought these about a year ago from Campmor. Loved the boots for many reasons. They started coming apart at the seams. Have a request into Sorrel to have them replaced but so far no response. Sorrel website has similar complaints in their review. Great boot for about a year.

Comments about Sorel Men's Conquest Boots:

I am a year-round hiker, and homeowner in the NE US. I seek winter boots that are durable and able to perform. Photo alone is insufficient for purchase. Looks absolutely great. However, upon first wear I found these boots too bulky and otherwise loose-fitting. Achilles strap notion far outweighs practical use as its on the unfamiliar, uncomfortable side of leg and difficult to tighten. Built-in gater, as well, is an outstanding idea, yet, in terms of utilization, too short and overmatched by least expensive actual gaiter. Good for simple homeowner seasonal use, however, there are far better boots for specialized use. Sorry Sorel.

The Sorel's Men's Conquest boots can be used for hiking and snowshoeing. But since it is rated to -40 F, keep in mind that the boot may be too warm. A boot rated to -20F is a better choice.

I would like a good boot for everyday wear Fall to/through spring dry, cold, lots of rain here and some cold and snow with lots of ice in winter. Is this the best choice? Any other good choices , maybe 2 more by Sorel? My feet are constantly cold so I need lots of protection even with winter/wool hunting socks daily.
I worry about wearing a lot on cement/pavement and longevity. Your opinion regarding wear?
                      Thank you.
