Comments about SeaToSummit Sea to Summit Nylon Tarp Poncho:

This thing works like it should. It's light and it's open enough that air can circulate under it and keep you from getting clammy. Seems like it would make a fine emergency or minimalist shelter, if you're into emergencies or minimalist gear.

One caveat is that you have to get it to hang just right at the sides or the rain comes in on your hips and a little bit on the side of your pack. I keep a water bottle carrier on my hip and it filled up with rain. On your own it's a little frustrating to try and get it to sit just right while wearing a pack, but if you've got someone with you they can easily straighten it out for you.

And you need to wear a hat with it. It has no bill, but if you wear a baseball cap the rain will stay out of your face.

Took this on the Appalachian for a week-long hike. We were using hammocks, going light, the first night it drizzled and it was okay. The second night it rained and the tarp did not hold up!

This was a birthday gift and i found i can use it as a shelter tarp for my hammock. Now i don't have to carry 2 pieces of gear. If you are going for ultralight hammocking this kind of gear is is invaluble

I expected the material to be of a heavier weight and more durable for the price. Eventhough it is coated nylon, it feels similar to the $5 ponchos.

I just received my Sea to Summit Tarp Poncho, and it does have a short (15") drawcord at the center of the rear hem. This would allow you to shorten the rear of the poncho to prevent it catching or dragging, if you're not wearing a backpack.
Good quality poncho, but I'd like snaps/zipper at the neck opening.
