I bought these for a hike up Mt. Marcy, NY's highest peak, because when I tried them on they had great a range of motion as well as a built in belt which I knew I would need as my pants tend to fall down when carrying a backpack.
Well, it turned out to be 15 miles in light to medium rain of rock hopping and mud slogging, with 60MPH winds and 40 degree temps on the summit. Amazingly these pants stayed basically dry throughout the entire 7 hour trip. On the other hand, the guy I was hiking with was wearing another brand hiking pant and his were totally soaked through causing him severe leg cramps from hypothermia.
A great feature on these pants is the little snap that you roll up the ankles about 6 inches and hold them in place. Due to the deep mud we had to slog through this kept them from getting soaked and caked with mud as my hiking boots were. Can't recommend these enough!
