    Prevented ticks since 2005

Comments about Sawyer Products Permethrin Spray Tick Repellent:

I've used permethrin since 2005 to prevent tick and chigger intrusions. I have had 100% success, including bushwhacking trough spring and summer marshes, forests and fields. I use it at all the entry points: cuffs, socks, waistband and collar.

I do have trouble with the pump-up sprayer, and the valve has always been partially broken. But I've learned how to tease it into working, and this sprayer delivers a very fine mist that minimizes the amount of insecticide consumed. I still fight with the inadquate spray valve because it is still better than having to accept the wet, heavy delivery from a hand sprayer.

I recently moved to Indiana, which has been a real eye-opener. They have ticks in the forests unlike anything I have seen in a dozen other states. Both deer and dog ticks ... I try to never go into an uncontrolled area without permethrin protection. And a Pro-tick "tick fork" is always in my first aid kit.

Comments about Sawyer Products Permethrin Spray Tick Repellent:

We have used this product for years. We often take field trips or do gardening with other people who end up infested with ticks and chiggers, while we have none (we're not "immune" -- we had them many times before learning of permethrin). The claim of a six-week effective period seems conservative; we feel it lasts about twice that long.

Comments about Sawyer Products Permethrin Spray Tick Repellent:

This permethrin spray works as advertised. There is no aerosol so you pump the bottle up using the cap, spray on clothes or gear you want to bug proof and let dry. It worked well. We took a backpacking trip to North Carolina and had no bug issues when we had the permethrin treated clothes on. Used the same clothes 4 months later without re-treating with good results. No adverse side effects, no odor.

                  A:

How long a bottle will last is proportional to the amount of clothing to be treated. More clothing the quicker the bottle will be used up. As for an expiration date; there is no expiration date.

Can this product be applied directly to skin? If its applied to clothing and the clothing is washed, is there any health issue with the residual coming in contract with other clothes. Does it need to be reapplied to clothing after washing?
