Use for hiking; keeps you warm, is windproof, yet you don't overheat if you wear it indoors. I could live in this down sweater. I was a little concerned about the price; however, since wearing this down sweater I have never regretted spending what I did. In fact, I immediately ordered another Patagonia down sweater for me and one for my husband as a birthday gift.

It is very light and compressible and takes up little space in backpack or carry-on luggage; convenient to take when flying from cold climate to warm climate, or to have along for added warmth on outdoor ventures. Sleeves are long for me but easily rolled and not a bother-- it is usual for me to have to roll up sleeves.

The Patagonia Women's Down Sweater would be good to the lower 30s F or upper 20's only. You can use it as a layering piece under a shell and with a good base layer it could work into the single digits. It is water repellent only for light snow or a sprinkle.
