For a versatile, go-anywhere, do-everything waterproof/breathable shell, The Patagonia Men's Triolet Jacket comes through, with a trusted 3-layer GORE-TEX® Performance Shell with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. Features include a helmet-compatible, two-way-adjustable hood with a laminated visor for optimal visibility, the sleek "Touch Point System" embedded cord locks in the hood and hem for quick adjustment without opening the jacket, and pockets that stay clear of harness and pack lines. Other detailing: low-bulk, watertight, coated zippers on the pit zips and pockets, low-profile cuff closures and full-reach gusseted underarm panels for mobility.

          Patagonia is expensive without a doubt. IN fact that is the major drawback to the company. However, I am a convert. Their products are exceptionally well made, they have an amazing return policy (especially if you live near one of their stores) and they are good corporate stewards of the environment. These things are for me more important today than ever.

          This is my third Patagonia coat in 10 years (2 Gortex shells and 1 wooly warm winter jacket). I still wear the older two coats and love them. I have not yet had a chance to test my newest purchase out in the weather but am looking forward to it. What I can tell thus far though, is that it fits very well. I am tall and have long arms. The coat is fitted in such away that as I move my arms to and fro, the coat stays where it is supposed to. It doesnt shift. Plus I have full range of movement without any pulling. Long story short, it fits perfectly. Spend the money. Its worth it.

          This is a really hard shell -- big, stiff, bombproof. It's definitely sized to allow plenty of layers beneath, to the point of it flopping around when worn alone.
