Paddleboy ATC All Terrain Center Boat Cart

Item #: 60631

Our Price: $129.99

Regular Price: $149.95

SAVINGS: $19.96 (14%)

Purple

With large 16" bike tire wheels, the ATC is great for going over rutted paths that cause difficulty for smaller wheeled carts, and it's faster over paved, flat surfaces. For many users, the large wheels will also offer a more natural height for pulling or pushing.

The ATC is perfect for heavy-loaded canoe portages, john-boats and other larger craft, including dinghies and Lasers. It easily transports all kayaks.

The heavy-duty powder-coated steel frame breaks down nicely for low-profile storage. A spring-loaded, super stable kickstand, adjustable top pad bars, and included cinch straps complete this super heavy-duty cart. 300 pound capacity.

  • Designed for: Kayaks, Canoes, John Boats, Larger Craft
  • Carrying Capacity: Up to 300 pounds

Comments about Paddleboy ATC All Terrain Center Boat Cart:

You get one long strap to wrap around the hull twice to hold the boat on the cart. That won't work well running over roots or in sand. We tried several technics on a 15' and 18' kayak and both got out of alignment easily. I tried using two straps and it was better so I think it needs two straps or some flat rubber bungee cords with plenty of tension.

Other that this one issue, the cart works very well and is well constructed. I expect many years of service so well worth the price.

Comments about Paddleboy ATC All Terrain Center Boat Cart:

This is a clever design and excellent product, the best I have seen. I question the 300 lb. cargo weight. I doubt that it will hold a heavily laden canoe full of gear. The tires smell like Chinese rubber so I put them in a garbage bag for long drives.

The holes in the adjustable bars seemed to be in the wrong place (bars only lock when tilted to center), but it appears that by flipping the bars they could then tilt out. Perhaps this is a trivial assembly mistake. In any case, it is easy to fix. I drilled additional holes so I could tilt them both ways. The wheel diameter and tire width is sufficient to overcome small obstacles such as a 4-inch log or cobble and cover soft but not boggy ground. Overall, this is an excellent buy.

Comments about Paddleboy ATC All Terrain Center Boat Cart:

We used the cart to put in and haul out on a Colorado river canoe trip. Our canoe is a 1947 Old Town wooden canoe that we did not want to damage. So the Paddleboy worked perfectly - but, you must unload the canoe before any lengthy moves. I tried it full and bent the stand. The cart is very sturdy, but not intended for a fully loaded canoe. Bike shop said could upgrade to better tires and hubs for $200 but the ones that it came with worked fine, no problem. Maybe when these wear out we will upgrade. But not needed. Also put tube insulation around the lateral tubes that are not covered so that one person can attach the cart to the end of the canoe with the canoe upside down when taking it off the roof of the car - just a suggestion. An excellent product at the right price. Very glad I bought it.

I have used this with a 14' canoe loaded with beer and gear from one end to the other. It took a beating through brooks, swamps, ruts, you name it for over 4.5 mile to get two of us to our favorite pond with no problem. It works great for my sport fishing kayak for short and long halls. I just got back from using it from a three day trip. Load your gear with just a little extra weight in the front and it is the perfect hight to pull along and the back is still high enough if you need someone to help push up steep grades. Love it. I won't be without it. I put Green Slime in the tires, bring an extra tube, a small bike air pump and a couple tools (just in case) but have not hade any problems.

Used with unloaded canoe, traveled 1.5+ miles, and it was great. Love the raised level of the canoe. We then took it to Adirondacks and used it to portage our loaded canoe, and it was great. Friends showed up, and we let them use it. We're guessing the canoe was overloaded which caused the wheel collapsed (at the spoke level). We're getting it repaired (locally) and will be smarter about weights, etc. Saw a lot of homemade versions that didn't fold, so we're happy about that too.

The frame is rated to 300 lb. Each wheel is rated to 110 lb so the total would be 220 lb. Technically 220 lb because of the wheel limitations. If there were any inclines with a 220 lb boat a single person would have a problem getting this up hill. As for whether the Avon 12' raft will strap down to the paddle boy. there are a couple of limitations I see. The width would require extra strap length and with the 12' length you may want to get 2 carts to prevent too much rocking. Maybe securing a board between the two.

As long as it does not exceed 300 lbs it will work fine with this cart.
