Comments about Wigwam El-Pine Ragg Wool Socks:

I commented that they do tend to wear through at the heel, but then I wear them around the house all winter as well as with my clogs or Wellies, when outside, so I really can't blame Wigwam, although they seem to wear through faster than they did 10 years ago. I'm going to try darning the underside of the heel to see how that works. Oh and the denim seems to wear through fastest.

These Wigwam ragg wool socks are wonderful But, because I wear them daily on hard surface floors in my house, they last only about two months then the holes show in the heels.

Comments about Wigwam El-Pine Ragg Wool Socks:

Wearing out may not be a big problem for some of you, but I expect and need things I pay good money for to last. These pilled on the first wash. I thought nothing of it, as they were "Wigwam". I was wrong and they are now worn out and useless. Not only did I waste my money, but all the time I spent trying to find socks not made of Marino Wool, so they would last more than a week or two.
Sadly it looks like another company has traded quality for profit, and I hope for their swift demise. I shall do what I can to help them along on this endeavor, starting with this review and never buying another Wigwam product. And for those of you that think wearing out at the heal is not a big problem and still give a 4 star rating, where does it end? What sort of quality are you willing to accept before you get annoyed? Don't you know that every time you accept a little less, next time you will get a little less than that?

These socks last for years and take repeated washings. If your looking for a good quality wool sock, then look no further. Just keep them away from your dog because they love them too. They are not entirely dog proof.

This is my second pair. These socks are soft and comfortable inside my hip boots. I fish for trout in all seasons and the water is really cold. These socks keep my feet well insulated and warm. Bought the second pair so I can rotate them during my fishing trips. They wash up real nice with Woolite detergent. Just stretch them out and line dry.

So far I have only used these around the house, but it is my go-to warm sock. These are very warm and do not have that slippery, gross feeling that some socks do. I intended to use them as sleeping socks whilst camping, but have yet to have the opportunity.

I'm looking for a ragg wool sock like in the old days that is not so laden with stretch materials that they shrink up to doll size with each washing. Normal wool shrink ok. Is the nylon in these socks stretch nylon? what size for a size 11 shoe foot?

The nylon in the El-Pine is a stretch nylon. Once stretched it stay pretty loose. The best way to reduce shrinkage on wool products is to wash in cold water only and air dry.
