These mittens are very compact, easily fitting in a pocket. They do a very good job of keeping my hands warm. Bigger warmer mittens are simply not needed for most activities. I walk or bike to work year round in Boston.

Maybe I'm confused about the "weight"-rating of fleece, but these are NOT the equivalent of a 100+300 weight fleece textile, as used in jackets. The thickness of the whole mitt (through both palm and back, as laid out on a table) is 1/4 inch (8mm). You would never use these alone in anything under 50 degrees. They could be used as a "mitt liner" (like a lightweight "glove liner", but in mitt form), or as a hand covering for late-spring/early-fall constitutionals. But they are completely miscast as a backcountry/hiking/skiing mitten.
