Comments about Outdoor Research Rocky Mountain Low Gaiters:

This is the third pair of these that I have bought over the years. They are very comfortable, keep the insides of your boots clean enough to wear your socks several times before rewashing. They will keep snow out of the tops of your boots, but are not very good at keeping rain out. Keep the top of your socks under the very tops of the gaiters for better comfort and wicking. Unless you are doing some serious bush whacking, these shorties will do the job nicely and they are a whole lot cooler than the full length models. A lot quieter when you walk too!

I have not had a chance to use these outdoor b/c when thay came in the mail they were ridiculously small. I am 5'5" and 130 lbs. I wear size 8 hiking boots. not only were they too small to stay around my calves but the strap was not even long enough to fit underneath ny boot.

Used these for 700 miles on PCT before I threw them away. They don't stay up and both straps broke after about 400 miles. The OR Salamander is a better option.

Used it to snowshoe in the San Jacinto with freeze/thaw conditions. It worked well keeping the snow out of my shoes, but it fit pretty snuggly around my calf/ankle. It wasn't uncomfortable though. Can't really adjust the fit considering it's just elastic and velcro. Nice that there's a hook in the front that latches to your laces to keep it in place. For reference, I got a S/M and I'm 5'5, 130.

Comments about Outdoor Research Rocky Mountain Low Gaiters:

I use these with low top hiking shoes. They work good to keep debris out of my shoes which was the intent. They are a little difficult to put on and tend to slide down a lot. On a side note my shoe size (12) is near the top end of what they say it fits, so that may be an issue.

At its widest setting the L/XL would be 7" in diameter. This 7" would be very tight.

The OR Rocky Mtn Low Gaiter sizes available is s/m and L/XL only. The size chart is for single size only.On a previous question on size for a size 9 boot, you said that the questioner should order a size L. There is no size L! I have size 9 boots but if I order L/XL I don't want the gaiter to be too big and slip down on my ankle. The S/M may be too small for my Asolo TP 520 leather boots.

The L/XL size will be the best choice for a size 9 boot. It will not be too wide around the calf.
