They are very comfortable, keep the insides of your boots clean enough to wear your socks several times before rewashing. They will keep snow out of the tops of your boots, but are not very good at keeping rain out. Keep the top of your socks under the very tops of the gaiters for better comfort and wicking. Unless you are doing some serious bush whacking, these shorties will do the job nicely and they are a whole lot cooler than the full length models. A lot quieter when you walk too!

I am 5'5" and 130 lbs. I wear size 8 hiking boots. not only were they too small to stay around my calves but the strap was not even long enough to fit underneath ny boot.

Comments about Outdoor Research Rocky Mountain Low Gaiters: Used it to snowshoe in the San Jacinto with freeze/thaw conditions. It worked well keeping the snow out of my shoes, but it fit pretty snuggly around my calf/ankle. It wasn't uncomfortable though. Can't really adjust the fit considering it's just elastic and velcro. Nice that there's a hook in the front that latches to your laces to keep it in place. For reference, I got a S/M and I'm 5'5, 130.

They are a little difficult to put on and tend to slide down a lot. On a side note my shoe size (12) is near the top end of what they say it fits, so that may be an issue.
