1 thing was a bit of a problem at first: the compass diden't work, i talked to mike in cs and he discounted my purchase 30% to make things right. no hassels, prompt, fair. i'm sold on campmor.

I own two golite umbrellas. I did have three but one broke. One of these is the golite chrome dome. The "chrome" is wearing off of it now. That's why I got the red in the birdiepal. Didn't want to take a chance of the coating wearing off. Overall the birdiepal is much more well made than the golites. It is heavier but I believer it will take more than the golite umbrellas. I like the fact that it locks in place. The golites sometimes come undone. The sleeve case is just wonderfully handy. If you're just going for a quick walk and the skies are threatening you can throw it over your shoulder and not have to carry it in your hand. I also like the fact that you're not attracting a lightning bolt with little metal in the construction. The compass on the end could be useful even if you had to get a little wet to read it. What small price to pay for knowing you're going in the right direction! I have always felt the golite umbrellas were cheaply made. The birdiepal is definitely a quality made umbrella. Look no further. This is the one, unless of course you're an ounce shaving junkie, then you'd best stick with the golite or none at all. Happy trails!

I have tried two other Euroschirm umbrellas and they did not hold under normal use. I didn't beat the dog with them, or sword fight with them, or misuse or abuse them in any way. However, they were replaced or refunded, so I can't complain for other than the inconvenience. This umbrella is supposed to be as good as it gets, anywhere, made by anyone! So, if this one doesn't hold up under normal use, I guess no one on the planet knows how to make a decent umbrella!

the product comes with a very handy carrying bag with a strap. One can easily wear on them. Fashionable design, nice to bring it around even in the city.

I carry this umbrella for a daily walk to work, though we don't get a lot of rain here. Also good for taking the dog walking on a rainy day. Easy to carry with nice strap on case. Covers two people fairly well. I plan on packing this for all camping and hiking trips in the future.
Seems well made, easy to open, solid mechanism.
The compass is on the handle, and points down when you are walking in the rain. Silly set up, like who will turn it over in the rain to find the direction?
Still, I like the item and it was worth the price. I hope I don't lose it!
