I am a city dweller and walking is my primary mode of getting around: during the hot summer months this umbrella (I have the silver coated version, which I use primarily as a parasol) makes it much more pleasant to be outside in the midday heat and provides some protection for my sun-sensitive skin. I'd recommend a larger version for someone looking for sun protection in a non-urban environment, but for everyday city use this size is great. It fits easily in my purse and doesn't take up too much room on crowded sidewalks. Also works fine as a perfectly functional umbrella.

I got one of these with the silver coating for trekking in Nepal. It worked wonderfully for sun protection, but after two weeks of rubbing against my sweaty neck and head, the shaft siezed up, apparently from internal corrosion, so that I could no longer open it. To their credit, Birdiepal sent me a new one, but after only a few hikes in New England, again rubbing against sweaty me, it has also siezed up. I've tried washing it but to no avail. The collapsible aluminum shaft just clearly is not suitable for use as a sun umbrella if you sweat since it's impossible not to touch it chugging up a mountain.I've ordered another, but this time a one-piece fiberglass shaft.

I already owned a go-lite chrome dome, which is a great product. I got this parasol because it compacts down to a convenient size for daily carrying in my bag. I use it daily when I leave the office at lunchtime in the hot DC sun. Highly recommend. Especially like the mesh bag, which protects the silvery finish from wearing off from contact with other contents of my bag.

Absolutely great, well made umbrella that expands to a large size from such a small package! Extremely well made and durable. I just wish it had a strap on the handle. Otherwise it's the perfect umbrella!

This was the 3rd one of these umbrellas I bought. We have been using them in India for 2 years, and a friend liked it so much that they asked me to buy it and bring it back to India for him. I bought them primarily for travel. However, my wife uses one of them regularly during monsoon season. They are light and sturdy and we have not had any problems so far.
