This is a well made shovel. It works well for backpacking as it is light, strong, and compact. It cost less than other brands and was useful to bury waste, and douse campfires. Too bad Coleman is getting rid of the Exponent Brand. Get it now while you can.

Constructed of very solid material but once it is "locked" open it is very difficult to unlock and refold.

Comparing to similar products from higher end companies this is a great price and durable. The first time I unfolded it I couldn't get the handle to unlock. I had to use pliers. After unlocking and locking the handle several times it started working fine. For the price I think it was an excellent buy.

Also, Campmor seems to think this is a gardening tool. I am pretty sure this is designed to be used the way I use it: when backpacking I find a secluded spot to dig a hole and hope what I plant does not grow!

Neat little folding shovel for hiking and bugout kits. A little heavy, but very sturdy.
