I strap a Pack Basket to the frame, then fill the basket with all kind of gear.

Comments about Kelty Cache Hauler Frame:

Recently purchased this pack to carry myself on hiking trips with my son. Frame a little frail looking, but seems sturdy. Easily adjustable. Felt really comfortable empty.
Loaded the pack up for a trip this weekend. When loaded, I put the pack on again. There is way too much padding on the belt. Almost impossible to tighten up adequately to capture weight of the pack on hips - ended up sliding down, and putting way too much weight on my shoulders. When I really cranked the belt the cheap plastic buckle popped loose.
I shifted my gear into my 30yo pack from when I was a teenager. Frame stronger. Actually had a metal buckle on belt. Held more. Carried better. They don't make them like they used to.

How much weight can this pack handle? I am looking to haul about 100-150 pound rock about 3 miles. Yes I am crazy but it is a breatifal amathist I found and is in hiding now until I can get it down.

      A:

100-150 lb would be a bit much 75 lb more like what you can expect to carry. you probably do not want to break this piece up into 2 pieces. This said, maybe a travois may be a better way to transport a heavy item like this.

  • Q:

What waist size will this fit? I'm 30", which puts me under for quiet a few packs.
