Comments about Kelty Yukon 48 External Frame Pack: This is a great product for small people carrying heavy loads. I am 5'4'' and a petite female, and this is backpack is perfect for my size. However, it isn't best suited for really steep, narrow, and slippery trails, which is what I am hiking for a job these three months. I can hardly feel the weight (not that I carry much), but tend to get caught on branches or lose my balance with this pack. I still love it because of the fit and the look, but think it would be best used on clearer, wider trails. Pros

Comments about Kelty Yukon 48 External Frame Pack: Having been a boy scout leader for over 10 years with a troop that does extensive backpacking, there really isn't another pack out there that fits the younger scouts (11-13 years old) as well as this one. It is very durable and can be adjusted as the boy grows. Tremendous value for the price! Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about Kelty Yukon 48 External Frame Pack: Bought this for my Scout to take weekend camping. Fits him well and he can get all his gear packed to carry. Seems sturdy and should last him a long time.
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about Kelty Yukon 48 External Frame Pack: Bought this pack a year ago for a then 7 year old. Wanted to get some use out of it before reviewing it. I have nothing but good to say about it. The adjustment range is amazing, it will adjust down small enough for my 60 pound 8 year old, bigger for my wife and even bigger to fit me. Now that's adjustment. You can't beat an external frame for summer heat either. Loads easy, carries well and is comfortable. This pack will fit my little guy a long time and since its a Kelty I know it will last. Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about Kelty Yukon 48 External Frame Pack: Purchased this for my son, who is about to advance to Boy Scouts. Bought primarily on basis of Kelty quality and high adjustability (as he is about to his a growth spurt).

Q:
how do you use the hold open bar?1 answer
A:
The hold open bar arrives unassembled. To assemble the hold open bar; pull the bar to the front of the pack. The bar's ends will kick to the back of the pack closest to the shoulder straps. Where the bar ends touch the pack bag run your finger along the seam and you will find a button hole. Insert the bar ends into the button holes. As the bar ends emerge through the pack bag you will notice clevis pins closely associated with the bar end location. Remove the securing ring or bar from the pin and back the pin out so that you can secure the bar between the frame and the pack bag. Reinstall the pin and secure. The hold open bar is not installed.Q:
