He had instructions from his Scout Master on what to buy and this fit the bill. I told him that it will carry more gear than he needs but he'll learn after overpacking once! Impressed with the size and all the adjustments possible!

Comments about Kelty Yukon 50 External Frame Pack: I just used this backpack for a 2-week trip through the Amazon and to Roraima in Venezuela. I was surprised by how much room it has. It's absolutely easy to load and I love all the pockets. The weight feels distributed really well, making the backpack extremely comfortable to wear on long hikes. I would have put rubber stoppers at the bottom of the frame so it would stand up more easily against a wall. It'd also be nice if it had some sort of straps under the compartments to attach a sleeping bag.

Comments about Kelty Yukon 50 External Frame Pack: Much more comfortable than the internal frame packs that I have used. I like the added comfort although I do notice a slight loss of freedom of maneuver. But, I'm used to it now and this pack is great. I can carry a bigger load more in comfort. I'm kind of a slow and steady hiker and this pack works great for that kind of travel. I stick to paths and trails too.

Comments about Kelty Yukon 50 External Frame Pack: Good value for outfitting your "Clan". We have 8 to outfit and this fit the bill for high value but not high end.

Start from this point and measure up to the C-7 vertebrae, which is the one that sticks out of the back of your neck when you touch your chin to your chest.
