Comments about MSR Dromlite Hydration Bag - 6 Liter:

I'm recently returning to hiking/camping and am now self-sufficient in terms of gear. My final purchase was water purification, and I bought a Katadyn Hiker Pro and a MSR Dromlite hydration bag. The MSR opening looks exactly like my Nalgene bottle opening, and my bottle cap actually has the same thread pattern. However the inside diameter of the opening is slightly smaller, so the Katadyn bottle plug does not fit. Very inconvenient, so need to sand the MSR opening to accomodate. Otherwise, it's a great bag.

My hiking buddy let me borrow her's and I fell in love. No more do I make repeated trips to filter water in camp. This is big enough to last until bedtime or the next morning.

Pros

  • Durable
  • Holds a lot of water
  • Manageable spout

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Camping
    • Long car trips

Comments about MSR Dromlite Hydration Bag - 6 Liter:

It's much easier to keep dishes and yourself clean, and water bottles filled, with this hanging from a tree. It's red, plastic look won't win any awards for looks, and, while the spout works fine more control over the flow would be welcome. But all minor complaints.

Once I have used this bag for 'dirty water', meaning collecting it from a stream and filter back at camp, how can I make it safe again to use for 'clean water' in the future?

        A:

Using hot soapy water to clean it should eliminate any unwanted germs or bacteria from the bag.
