Comments about MSR Alpine Stowaway Pot:

This is an awesome product. My stove stores right inside. This pot, a stove, can of soup, lighter & a spoon is all you need to warm up when hunting in the cold. I use it from my backpack, my vehicle & our camper. I have 3 different sizes & 3 of the smallest ones. Plan to get more. Can't go wrong with these.

        Pros

        • Durable
        • Fills 1 liter canteen
        • Lid locks in place
        • Stores food in pot

        Cons

        • Handle feels springy

        Best Uses

        • Boil water
        • Cook food
        • Long term back packing
        • Steam muffins

Comments about MSR Alpine Stowaway Pot:

I chose the 1.1 liter pot so that I could boil/purify water to fill a 1 qt. canteen with one boil. I also wanted an all purpose pot that would be durable enough for long term heavy use and yet light enough to carry. The locking lid is a real plus. When the pot is full of water, the handle has a slight springy bend to it that makes it feel a little unsteady, but not dangerous. The pot rim is stout enough so that the sides of the full pot do not flex when picked up by the handle. A steam basket and a pour spot would be nice. I am very pleased with the product.

How stable/sturdy are the (esp. larger) pots' handles when the pots are filled with boiling liquid??

            A:

The lids can be used as a plate. The lids would not work well as frying pans. You need to select the size you want. Each size has a different weight.
The pot handles are very sturdy and well designed for full pot loads.

The 1.6 Liter pot will. However please note that once you have used the stove a little liquid fuel will out gas into the pot. I think a better use of the pot is for food storage.
