Comments about Silva Ranger 515 Compass: I'm surprised no one has reviewed this. I've had mine for 20+ years and it's still going strong. Very accurate, durable, and whatever adjective you want to attach to a compass. The only thing that went wrong with mine is the bubble that occurred in the liquid after the temp dropped to somewhere below -25F. It still functions correctly as far as I can tell... haven't got lost!

Just so I am straight,if your intended use for this compass is civilian/not miltary, your best choice would be the 360 degree option - correct?

Quadrants are 0-90 E 0-90S 0-90W 0-90 N. While 360 is goes from 0-360 with E being 90 degrees S being 180 W 270 N 360. You would use a quadrant in a military grid UTM map.Answered on 11/20/2012 by Steve from Campmor
