Comments about Casio SGW300-1AV Sport Altimeter Barometer Watch:

Using this product for mountaineering and wilderness skiing, you need to a watch to tell time, wake you up, show your altitude, and give you the barometric pressure and trend. Period. This watch does all that for a low price -- you can't beat the value. I've destroyed many altimeter wristwatches over the years while using them, and I can tell you there is just no reason for spending a lot of money.

The main drawback to this watch is that you can't replace the battery yourself -- battery replaceability or not is something that should be noted in every catalog description of such watches. While the watch is a little large, the macho lettering should wear off with use -- you can't have everything. One pet peeve of mine is that most of these watches have too many functions (How many alarms does a person really need? Do I really need to tell my watch I'm in Tokyo? At least it doesn't have an electronic compass!).

The bottom line: this is one of the simplest altimeter alarm watches you'll find, decent quality, and the money you'll save can go toward a plane ticket to Alaska where you can really use it!

The case is doesnt feel like a GShock, it feels light and cheap, rubber bands doesnt look very durable and look like theyll dry and crack. The thermometer and altimeter are completelly useless making the barometer useless. Do not buy it if youre interested in knowing altitude and temperature.

Comments about Casio SGW300-1AV Sport Altimeter Barometer Watch:

Beside the obvious timekeeping function the barometer and altimeter functions are helpful when backpacking to judge altitude and weather. The other functions including a UTC mode and alarm are also great features. But if you want accurate temperature, you have to take it off. It's easily influenced by body temp.

Comments about Casio SGW300-1AV Sport Altimeter Barometer Watch:

I'm over the GPS stage for on trail hiking; short battery life and poor reception with tree cover drove me back to a trail map, compass, and altimeter. This watch reports altitude to 20 ft increments which is about as good as a barometer will do given weather based changes in pressure.
The display is small, especially for secondary items, compared to more expensive versions. The barometric trend indicator is nearly useless. I like a seperate magnetic compass. If your not willing to carry a compass you should upgrade to the triple sensor version.
Thermometer is only accurate if you take the watch off and let it stabilize.
It is a good bargain instrument for the intended purpose.

Comments about Casio SGW300-1AV Sport Altimeter Barometer Watch:

This is the most accurate watch I have ever owned
(less than one second fast per week). Has more data than you possibly could need, time (digital/analog), date, temp., barometer, altimeter, stopwatch, alarm
RIDICULOUS!for an astounding low price. If I asked it to wash my car it probably could-it is to me very attractive-yes a bit bulky but these guys had to cram all that stuff into it besides I say masculine not bulky. Easy to read-I love it.

Depending on the size of the wrist, but the Casio SGW300 will most likely be too big since it is an adult's watch.
