These shoes were the first ones I purchased when I began climbing. As I got better, I purchased the La Sportiva Muiras Vs women's because I needed a stiffer shoe with better edging capability. My first pair of Evolvs were so smelly that I had to get rid of them- they weren't worth resoling. But I loved them so much that I purchased another pair as a back up for my Muiras. I have been preferring them on particular climbs that involve more slab and crack climbs and they haven't disappointed.

This shoe is flexible compared to a more aggressive shoe, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I highly recommend these shoes for beginners and people who need a back up pair of shoes. Being synthetic, the WILL get smelly over months and months of continued wear, but don't be deterred by that.

These shoes are true to size. Like many climbers, I size my shoes down to get the best performance out of my shoe. I am a regular women's 9.5 but wear an 8.5 (39) climbing shoe. The synthetic doesn't give as much as leather, but I'd you are a beginner you will be breaking in your feet more than the shoe anyway!

When looking for my first pair of climbing shoes, this was a great find! Maybe I'm biased after years of using wall shoes, but they broke in very easily and gave me a lot more control than I used to have!
