I throw it in my pack for emergencies, but I use it as a layer between my bag and mat and it really seems to make a difference. Stuffs easily back in the sack and ready to go. On warm days, I can crawl right inside and forget my down bag all together. The venting at the feet and velcro halfway down one side allows enough breathability so I don't clam up. It's even great in the morning to just wrap around your shoulders or sit on to keep out some of the cold. Well worth the ~6oz. I don't go on any backpacking trips without it.

Comments about Adventure Medical Kits Thermal Bivvy SOL: This is a great back-up for day hikes and fringe season camping. It will add 10-15 deg to any sleeping bag. It can be used by itself but it is a bit fragile. The seems are coming apart on mine but I have used it at least 30 nights camping, many of those in a hammock. It doesn't get as "clammy" as the mylar space blanket. Would be a great addition to a Bug Out Bag or your car safety bag in the northern areas.
