Comments about New Balance VIA Slim Pedometer: Loved it until my dog ate it. Very accurate counts (but I don't calibrate my steps - I jsut count them). Love that it has a clock. Especially love that it has never accidentally reset itself to zero during the day - unlike all other models I've tried (and I've tried at least a dozen over the years).

The calorie are calculated: A one mile walk burns around 100 calories, according to the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Since one mile is equal to 2,000 steps, you can calculate the amount of calories burned for each step using the following formula: 100/2000 = .05 calories.
