Comments about High Sierra Appalachian 75 Internal Frame Pack:

I bought this as an entry level pack for backpaking and overnight camping. Overall I am happy with the performance of the pack. Some of the things I had problems with were:
The waist buckle pops loose when it hit my trouser belt buckle. I moved the buckle on my trouser belt and had no other issues.
The sleeping bag compartment was way too small for my sleeping bag. Part of it may be due to my bag not packing down well, but I still cannot imagine a bag fitting in there.
Shoulder straps could have a little more pading. I had this loaded to about 45# and hiked a decent distance. My shoulders are quite sore. Not sure how it rates compared to the higher end packs since it is my first.

I would buy this again and for the price I am very satisfied.

If you want to hike in a mile or so off the main road this is a great pack. For longer distances I'd probably cut back on the creature comforts but the 75 L size is great when you want it all. Fully loaded it still felt better than my typical day pack.

Comments about High Sierra Appalachian 75 Internal Frame Pack:

This bag is huge but it just doesn't work. The top compartment always falls backward even when the bag is totally stuffed. The shoulder and waist straps are very hard to bend and not soft at all. It doesn't adjust well if you are short and or skinny because the waist strap doesn't fit at all. The sleeping bag compartment is too small to fit most bags even when they are in a stuff stack. I still haven't figured out how the hydration bladder is supposed to work since it runs the tube right next to you clothes making them wet. The good part is the side and back pockets work great, and you can strap many items onto the sides.
But if you are a taller person this bag would work just fine, but since i am shorter it just doesn't fit right.

Comments about High Sierra Appalachian 75 Internal Frame Pack:

I've been through a few packs from the [@]to the sports store. For the money this pack is pretty good. ALLOT of storage! Only main gripe was the straps were constantly coming loose. One cool thing is the pack rain cover. I was hiking during hunting season and had no orange till I realized the built in rain cover was orange.
