This model is apparently available under different names by different brands. It is notable for its especially white light compared to other LED lanterns. The aluminum jacket adds strength, the rubberized footing grips well, and the relative water resistance and durability are commendable. I made little use of the "flashlight" mode at first because it doesn't throw much of a beam. But the broad, diffused light of the flashlight works well when hung upside down as a worklight. This adds versatility. Also, there's a flashing beacon mode if you hold down the on/off switch. Comes with batteries too – a plus compared to other lanterns in this price range.

Don't now how hard it is to come by a battery or if it is waterproof. But not knowing that aside, I'm happy with my purchase.

My wife and I used our Flip on the AZ Trail. It was bright enough to cook, read and play cribbage. My wife claimed it as hers that first night; I may have to buy a second one for myself.

I usually dont review things, but had to take time out to say what an idiotic design for the battery installation- it has all these springs and wobbly batteries, and you cant screw the lid back on- couldnt the engineers come up with something a little better!!? very frustrating that designs like this actually get made into products!

Very bright. Having both features of a lantern and flashlight allows for many different uses. Suitable mostly for camp use. Not really a night hiking flashlight.

Great lantern, very bright when used as a lantern but when rotated and used as a flash light, not so good. The beam is too diffuse to provide outward light. The unit is very durable and light for car camping.

Biggest downfall of this unit is the LED light that blinks when batteries are installed. I suppose it is a good idea when you want to find this in the darkness of your tent but what a waste of battery power since there is no on/off switch for the LED. Mfg should have installed a three way switch that turns the unit completely off, blinking LED, lantern on. You must take the batteries out to avoid draining them since the small LED will flash and once out, now you have to keep track of those AA batteries.
