The Maxim Unity was designed as an all around excellent rope with an emphasis on light weight and durability. The slim size keeps the weight to a minimum while the TPT "twill" sheath makes the rope slide through belay devices and over rough rock like a dream. The use of double rope technique further reduces rope drag and increases safety in situations where your rope may be damaged by falling rock, a sharp edge, or misplaced crampon. Double ropes also allow for longer rappels by a party of 2 than if using one single rope. The rope is made using maxim's 2-x-dry treatment. The water-resistant coatings are applied to the core yarns, and then the sheath is woven over them. The whole rope is then retreated and cured to make this a very durable water-resistant treatment that will not wear off like others.
