This item is great for Boy Scout Troops. We were replacing about 1 glass lantern globe every month at $10 each until we found this unbreakable wire mesh replacement.

The mesh globe appears to be made of quality materials. Thus far, I have not had a chance to use the globe, but it fits well in my Century lantern. Now I won't have to worry about globe breakage, which is what happened to glass globe after only two trips. The original glass globe that came with the unit did not seem to be tempered properly.

This is a great product because it DOES allow you to use your lantern without fear of breaking the globe. Today's Chinese made Coleman glass globes are much more fragile than the globes of yesterday, so this is an important consideration.

HOWEVER, there is a noticable difference in light output between glass and these wire mesh globes. The wire mesh globes restrict the light and your lantern won't be as bright. Not bad, but not as bright.

After using both, I finally switched back to the glass globe and carry the wire mesh globe as a spare.
