This tool is a piece of junk. The compass doesn't work, the whistle doesn't work, and it is fragile to the point it would crack at a harsh word. Don't get this product, especially if you will have to some day truly rely on it to survive.

Why is it that no one can make a compass. It has to one of the easiest things to make, however they fail one after another.

Instead of having a separate compass and whistle, I thought I'd give this a try for when I am hunting. Turns out, the compass does not work well - it does not hold north and gives inaccurate readings and the flip out tools do not click or lock open - they sort of lazily retract. I wouldn't get this as an emergency or fall-back-on tool. Better off getting a separate whistle and a separate compass...
