Comments about Esbit Solid Fuel Stove and Cookset:

This is a good stove within its limitations. It's designed for solid fuel tabs only and gets the job done (although Esbit now has a model for alcohol and fuel tabs). The cookset is slightly too large for a single fuel tab setup causing a slow boil time, and the distance from flame to pot is perhaps a bit too much. One answer is to use two tabs at the same time while blocking some of the vent holes. This allows for temperature control. Do not use an alcohol burner as it isn't designed for this model stove. I plan on buying the new Esbit dual fuel stove soon.

Comments about Esbit Solid Fuel Stove and Cookset:

Love the fact that I can use twigs etc. as fuel. Haven't used the Esbit fuel with it yet altho I have ordered and received some of this fuel. I will probably just use twigs etc. most of the time in which I use this item. Lightweight and small which is great for traveling, camping, backpacking etc.

Small package, pretty sturdy. Only big enough for 1 person. 1 tab wasn't enough to boil water, so carry a water filter!

Comments about Esbit Solid Fuel Stove and Cookset:

Bought Stove/Cookset and the AGC alcohol stove at the same time. The alcohol stove sits too close to the pan and goes out immediately. I drilled out the rivet holding the metal tray for the Esbit tab.
Still not enough room. The tabs alone don't burn long or hot enough to use. I'll try twigs next time.

Stove is way too small for alcohol burner...burner doesn't work in stove...Customer Service said that company rep said equipment works together...what the company rep said is not true...even with cutting out bottom of stove...burner fits poorly...and fails to burn easily in such a small space

Comments about Esbit Solid Fuel Stove and Cookset:

This is an amazing little stove---it works great in situations when you just cannot find fuel--you couldn't bring it on the plane, and when you arrive, lo and behold they don't have just the right pressurized fuel you need, presto you brought a few pellets along, and you are good to go. Great for hot drinks, or easy one pot meals.

Comments about Esbit Solid Fuel Stove and Cookset:

If you need to boil 2 cups of water or heat 2 cups this kit isn't a bad little option. The weakness of it is the Esbit fuel. I just finished boiling 2 cups of water for a Mountain House meal to test this little kit. The first Esbit tab got it warm and burnt out. So, instead of wasting another knowing it wouldn't boil, I took half a tab and put some small to pencil sized kindling in the opening of the stove. This creates a mini fire that is controlled and easy to handle. It worked like a charm. So, cool stove, but I'd use kindling to cook/heat with. Cheaper and more effective.
