Comments about UCO Mightylite XL Compact Lantern & Torch:

This is a fantastic multi-functional little light. It would be nice if it had a shield you could flip up on one side to prevent glare, but if you put it beam-side down on a table the glare is gone. It is very bright and is perfect for use as a combo flashlight/tent lamp-it's all you need. We use two in our screen house on the table and are very happy with the amount of light these give off. Great backup light to have on hand for power outages.

Comments about UCO Mightylite XL Compact Lantern & Torch:

I've been testing it in my 1 acre tree lined back yard where I have a fun kind of "Hobo Camp" set up. A line with a tarp over it basically. A small fire pit, camp table and chair.
It's sturdy and has a quality finish. Although it's also plastic the materials are quality. I've had other lites that seemed cheap, espcially the battery compartments. This is not the case with the Mightylite.
As a flashlight it is bright enough for most situations in camp or on the trail at night. As a lantern it's super! One can adjust the sliding beam to spread out or focus downward. Very handy for eating or writng.
Nowdays 3-AAA cell products are becoming popular vs. 2-AA. I don't know if this would add to power advantages or longer battery life. But either way batteries are fairly inexpensive and I don't care either way.
What I like is having LED technology with no worry about replacing bulbs!
I imagine backpackers would love this little jewel. It's light and compact and usefull in more than one way.
Only thing I didn't like was the on/off switch. It's difficult to locate in the dark, unlike those with side buttons, tailcap switches, or bevel rotation switches. But I'll get used to that.

Comments about UCO Mightylite XL Compact Lantern & Torch:

I just bought this flashlight to fill out my orde[...]. But, now, I'm glad I bought it!I am impressed by this flashlight. It exceeded my expectations, even for its higher cost. The traditional flashlight function is very bright, even at a good distance. Sliding the cover, it works as a very good lantern, filling my 15x15 bedroom sufficiently to read. So far, my batteries are real strong after a few hours of use--I expect the long battery use advertised. It is solidly built, as far as I can tell, and still light (in weight--no pun intended). The only drawback is that the power switch is hard to find in the dark and hard to swing on. It isn't a traditional switch button one depresses. At the same time, this type of switch is not prone being pushed off or on by mistake, when carrying or packed in a suitcase.I'm very happy with the flashlight and believe this one is worth the relatively high price.

Great light, it is very compact and bright. Ideal for backpacking given the size. In response to the guy who said it is junk b/c it kept switching on in his bag. Why not store it in a smaller pocket where it is easy accessible and heavy items will not flip the switch. Most of the time I try and keep my headlamp, lantern and other small essentials together so that they are right there when I need them. This is a terrific light I would recommend it to all, you will be surprised with how bright it is for such a tiny product.

Comments about UCO Mightylite XL Compact Lantern & Torch:

First off this light surprised me. I was really impressed and that's hard to do. In darkness, the light is very bright and lights a very good area. The "throw"of the light is very good as well and will light your way safely around camp or down a path to the outhouse and this is just the flashlight part! Give it a pull a you have a lantern. Maybe not as good as your Coleman, but more then enough to light a good size area or tent for reading, cooking, first aid, etc.
I bought one for each member of my family in different body colors and they came in handy just two weeks later at night when the power went out. I had a light to move around the house and check on every one and a lantern later to wait on the power and find a radio to find out what's going on?
That's what I use this larger version for, my bedside and keep the small one in my EDC bag. My teenage son keeps his in his backpack for college for emergencies.
There doesn't seem to be much deference in light out put in both the small and large models but with the large the battery life is doubled!
My biggest complaint is the small model has a fold away loop, cord and Carabiner to hang the light for use as a lantern (very useful) but this larger version has the same except the "loop" is open to form a hook for hanging in a tent (it still comes with cord & Carabiner) and this really weakens the loop for a bigger light.

The light was bought for this summer's BSA camp, light was good but switch is easily turned on with a slight bump. Found it on multiple times in my pack. It somehow shorted out fresh batteries and corroded the inside. It is now in landfill heaven.
