Comments about Black Diamond Magnum Daypack: I use it for commuting. It fits a 13" laptop (barely) with enough room for lunch and a power cable. I don't think you could fit many textbooks for school, but it's great if you like to travel pretty light, and don't like carrying around a 35L backpack that's always half-empty. The front of the backpack is a little narrower than the back, so even though the laptop fits great once it's inside, it can be hard to squeeze it in there. The zipper on the front is a little hard to use, but the pocket is great. The side pocket openings are angled which looks cool, but small items (keys/phone) can fall out of them. Other than that, I would buy it again.

Cons Best Uses Comments about Black Diamond Magnum Daypack: I purchased this bag as a walkabout bag to put in my checked bag so I wouldn't have to clean out my carry-on and risk a problem at security, and it has done so admirably...It carries all I need on a day's excursion- water bottle, rain shell, fleece, snacks, and a book and iPod... I can fit a netbook in the hydration bladder slot as well without difficulty.. I am looking for more excuses to use this!

Comments about Black Diamond Magnum Daypack: I'm actually in Yosemite right now using this pack. I used it for a quick hike up Mist Trail, it was very convenient. It fits a camelback nicely. On the way back down Mist Trail I was able to run down without any movement of the pack.
