This bowl does double duty as a plate or bowl. The handle is perfect for holding when the bowl has hot contents. Yes, it is thin stainless and the bottom will pop in and out - BUT, it is THE most practical bowl/plate making it the only thing you need to bring camping besides your utensils. It'll last forever. Just what I wanted. Love it!!

I got these for use at home, it's big enough to hold a full meal but deep enough for soups and stews without spilling. The handle keeps you from burning your hands and is great for holding the bowl while shoveling down food. The stainless steel is wonderfully durable, we drop our utensils often enough that we don't like anything that can break.

I serve home made udon in them all the time, along with chili and beef stew. They are easy to clean and store.

My brother has had one of these for years. I searched high and low with no luck, until I ran across them in Campmor. For my needs it is perfect. Deep enough to be a bowl, but shallow enough to use as a plate. Also makes a great pan for light frying. Handle is sturdy but does not get in the way like other equipment. I am actually writing this review from the Smokey Mtns, where I am using this product. I love it and hope to have it for years to come.
