Comments about Optimus Nova+ Backpacking Stove: Great little cooking stove.Low simmer flame not so good but who simmers when your hungry.Takes a little practice on lighting it the first few times as it will flame up but settles down quickly.It's very compact and takes little space and the quality is second to none.This little stove will most likely be the last I ever buy.I am thrilled with it.

After years of repairing MSR stoves, I wanted something a little better built that would stand up to our regular backpacking trips. We lead a high school club at least 6 trips a year and go on another three to four trips of our own. This stove is a real workhorse. It's such a winner that we bought another just like it for our sea kayaking trips in Maine and keep it there.

Cons Best Uses Comments about Optimus Nova+ Backpacking Stove: When deployed where there's no chow hall to get coffee and no place to buy fuel canisters, there's always diesel, MoGas or JP8 available in the vehicles and the stove works great. Diesel smoked black until the stove gets hot then it burns clean in this stove. Could use a small grate as a curved steel canteen cup doesn't fit over the burner well though. Tin foil easily bolcks the wind too.
