Light, functional, simple. I'd suggest simple aluminum pots and pans for all camping uses.

Like any pot, put soap on the outside before cooking over a fire and it cleans up well.

This is perfect for melting 3L of snow plus an additonal liter for meal's needs each morning and evening while winter camping. I painteed the bottom with woodstove paint to increase heating efficiency.

This aluminum pot performed well for a full month in the bush. It worked as a stew pot every day for 2-3 hours cooking rice and beans. The handle on the lid was extremely useful (especially with the temporary addition of a carved bail handle). It also makes a sufficient oven with the addition of some river stones and a little water in the bottom, and was used for two different successful wild raspberry cobblers.Of course it was hard to clean, but that's because it is aluminum and gained a coating of soot and cooked on grease from the oil and shortening we were cooking with every day. Bring a dedicated kitchen bandanna if you want your hands to not end up covered in tarry sooty goop!
