Comments about Katadyn Hiker Pro Replacement Cartridge: I have two Katadyn water filters: the Base Camp and the Hiker Pro. Each is at least four years old. I love being able to carry one replacement cartridge that will work in whichever of my filters needs replacement. This year, I carried the spare into Quetico and didn't need it. Both filters continued working with the cartridges I installed last year (the Base Camp) or the year before (the Hiker).

Comments about Katadyn Hiker Pro Replacement Cartridge: I filtered about 10+ gallons of water a day on a 4 day backpacking trip with a group. No problems, but I do cover my acorn filter w/ a coffee filter that prevents sediment from clogging the filter.

Comments about Katadyn Hiker Pro Replacement Cartridge: This is the ONLY filter that fits my Hiker Pro water filter. I gotta' buy it. I use it in the Adirondack Preserve of NY State where the water has loads of tannin so the filter gets stained and clogged readily.

Comments about Katadyn Hiker Pro Replacement Cartridge: We have found that the filters typically only last about half as long as they should (even though they are used in very clean water which some people drink from the lake.) On our latest trip, we put in a new filter one day into the trip. It didn't allow any water to flow. We eventually forced small drips, but found water filtering to be a job that had to be done full time anytime we were in camp. Also, no way to backwash this with our Basecamper model to extend the life. When it works, it works well. However, we have had our frustrations.

Comments about Katadyn Hiker Pro Replacement Cartridge: I use this filter for backpacking trips. It works excellent, the quality is good. I've had not problems with these replacement filters. My only real issue is that they are so darn expensive.

What if I need a replacement cartridge for a PUR purifier?
Katadyn microfilter replacement cartridges fit 2 PUR purifier pumps. The Hiker cartridge will fit into a Voyager, and the Guide cartridge will fit into a Scout. To keep this filter clean use the micro sheet that comes with the cartridge to take out tannins in the water. Over time though the filter will get dirty. Rinse under clean water. Make sure you air dry the filter before storage.Answered on 7/7/2011 by Steve from Campmor
