It removes pathogens such as protozoan cysts (Giardia and Cryptosporidium) and particulates larger than 1 micron. A must for extended travel in regions with questionable water quality. My husband and I will be hiking in Isle Royale National Park which warns of having tapeworm cysts due to the moose population. We will be carrying a Katadyn either Microfilter or Microfilter Pro, but do we need this cyst filter or will the microfilters take care of things?
