Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew: I would let it sit in the bag just a little longer then directions before eating. Other then that it makes a great tasty meal on the trail.

Best Uses Comments about Mountain House Beef Stew: Okay, okay… Yea this review is going to sound like the preverbal you know what in the punch bowl. Out of all the Mountain House products, this one ranks up there with military "C" rations and MRE's. CAUTION FOLKS! Any Mountain House product with the word "Beef" on it means lousy taste in my book. The folks at Mountain House have gotten it right with chicken and turkey, but for some reason, the beef will not reconstitute itself even if you let it sit for over a half and hour. . As for the "Beef" though, the texture reminds me of chewing on my leather boot laces. The other draw back is the, I guess you can call that gelatinous goop they call "Gravy" lacks something in culinary imagination when it comes to flavoring. Maybe it's the lack of potatoes and other vegetables that misses the mark when the spoon hits the pallet. I am sure that there is same nutritional value somewhere. Hopefully someone will eventually correct this problem and Mountain House products containing "Beef" will be up there with the chicken and turkey entrees. Till then, no thank you, please, I am going vegetarian tonight. Swagman.
