Comments about Silva Starter Type 1-2-3 Compass: I gave this to my camp staff members as a gift during our training. Used them for orienteering and compass learning. They are great - easy to use, durable, easy to read. Only downside is they don't come with a cord attached - you need to get your own. I did not test the compass' accuracy, but they were all pointing the same way.

Comments about Silva Starter Type 1-2-3 Compass: This is a great first compass for scouts both the cub and boy scout level. We give this as a graduation gift when cubs move up to boy scouts. It has served many boys well for orienteering. It is also the same model available thru the [...] store without the [...] emblem. cheaper here. [...] price not worth having emblem.

Hi I believe I bought this compass from you before. The compasses that I bought had a flat top and a somewhat rounded bottom... which is different looking than the compass displayed on your picture. But I'm pretty sure it was the Silva Starter 1-2-3. Am I right about the shape? I also want to make sure that this one is full of liquid. Thanks for the info.

The baseplate of the Silva Starter Type 1-2-3 Compass is flat and rectangular. Not rounded or contoured tor the hand. The capsule is liquid filled.Answered on 11/9/2010 by SkyeLab from New Jersey
