Comments about Silva Trekker Type 20 Compass: Bought this for a FunSAR class. It was recommend by the instructor. There was about 20 of us that bought these and I think only one of the 20 worked great. The one was off about 3 degrees.

Comments about Silva Trekker Type 20 Compass: I learned to use the compass in the Marines. It is a must have piece of equipment for the outdoors man.It is lightweight, easy to use and the mirror can be used to signal when help is needed.

A:
The Ranger is a little bigger and has adjustable declination for use with non desalinated maps. The Trekker has a declination scale, however it can not be adjusted so you will need to eyeball it. Additionally the Ranger comes in 360 model and quadrant model. The trekker is a 360 only.Answered on 6/14/2012 by Steve from Campmor
