Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier II 5 Gallon Water Container:

Preparing for a multiday canoe trip we decided to take 4 5-gallon Fold-A-Carriers per canoe. 1 of the first 4 purchsased leaked. The replacement carrier also leaked. The leaks appear to be in the creases of folds. These carriers have a stated 5-year warranty agains leaks, punctures, materials, etc. The warrant isn't much good if your water leaks outs and your 4 days away from nowhere.

Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier II 5 Gallon Water Container:

We ordered 10 of these water jugs, 2 of which leaked the first time we put water in them. When I called customer service, they replaced the two leaky jugs, and one of the new ones they sent to replace the two from the original order also leaked. By this time, our project was well underway and we did not try to get another. I would not recommend these water jugs, but have to say that Campmor's customer service is very good.

I am also looking for long term storage of water. Could this be useful to me if the water inside would be sterilized

            A:

There are better choices. For long term water storage look for heavier food grade water containers. Probably a lot larger than this if you are interested in water storage after access to potable water becomes a problem.

        • Q:

I am trying to find water containers that I can use to store water long-term. How durable or resistant are the materials of this container? would you recommend this to store water or is it just for short periods?

            A:

A non-sterile container can only be used as a temporary storage unit for water. After about a weeks time, bacteria will start to build up in the container.
