The downside of this is that they are more difficult to keep clean (at least for me). I prefer having the large mouth nalgenes as extra water storage bottles in my pack and using one with a mouth piece to drink from. Still very easy to clean.

Since this is a plastic base bottle and the fuel you refer to also acts as a solvent, I would recommend a bottle that is not made of plastic like the MSR Fuel Bottle 30 fl. oz

This is more to answer how durable the hard bottles are. While biking a couple of years ago, the pedal and attachment arm came off the bike, and I used my Nalgene bottle to hammer it back on. I was on my way to work, so I wasn't being casual about the hammering. Had to hammer it on one more time before I could get to proper repair tools.
