    Comments about UCO Mini Lantern:

My third Candle Lantern. Had the Spring loaded Brass from 24 years ago--I liked it, but heavy and not so easy to clean. I got the collapsible tea light lantern too--hhmm--it collapses--not always good and is not all that stable.

This one I am reviewing is great for helping with condensation and frost in a winter tent( be careful though) and--really handy for emergencies--it doesn't collapse and one can put a metal pot or cup on it and melt snow and even get water hot enough for a hot drink. The 10 Essentials have been expanded in the Northwest to also have(among other things like an insulated pad) something that makes water from snow and/or purifies water. It is slow but it will heat up a snow cave somewhat and act as a very small stove to melt snow to water. The collapsible lanterns won't do this. A more powerful stove is better and recommended--but this is good for emergencies/back-up and light. One can get the 7 hour tea lights with the thicker wicks. Then 10 tea lights at about 1.2 ounces each are approx. 70 hours of heat, light and the ability to make water--if you have a small metal cup or pot.

This is not the highest power setup--but is reliable, light, cheap and better than sitting in the dark, burning money to stay warm and sucking on snow to stay hydrated.

      Comments about UCO Mini Lantern:

I've got a couple three of these. Weigh nothing, can hold six Wallyworld tea lights and they catch spilled wax. Work lots better than the collapsible Micro. Put one in your bug out bag or emergency car kit. Dim light, but any light is better than no light. And c'mon it's a tea light lantern.

      Comments about UCO Mini Lantern:

I have owned this lantern for years and it still works, sadly just recently the glass finally broke but luckily im not in the middle of nowhere and im a short drive to the campmor store. all that this lantern needs is a case to protect the glass when it is in storage due to the glass being unprotected compared to the collapsible uco full size lantern.

      Comments about UCO Mini Lantern:

This lantern is not a substitute for a good flashlight. It is a tea candle. Fits in the palm of your hand. One candle power.

This is a nice candle to hand in your tent after lights out or on the picnic table when you just want some ambiance. Will light up the inside of a tent enough for you to see dimly around the tent.

It will help keep the frost from forming inside the tent in winter.

A tea candle is cheap, doesn't spill, lightweight and burns for about four hours.

        Comments about UCO Mini Lantern:

This mini lantern is very well made, and light for back packing.
I tested it in my shop last night and was not happy with the amount of light it made with the tea candle, you can get more light from a wood match.
I am going to try to make my own tea candles with dripless candle sticks.I think what it needs is a candle with a thicker wick, that will make a bigger flame and more light. I will repost when I test it.

              Comments about UCO Mini Lantern:

Bought this for winter camping. Our battery lanterns kept failing when it was *really* cold. I wanted a backup so we'd have at least a minimum amount of light. This has served the purpose. Besides, it's nice having a flickering candle on the table. Tea-light refills are available *everywhere* and are dirt cheap.

Tea light candles bag of 40 for $3.99 at local grocery. Other candle lanterns I had; one had a tube the candle rose in with a spring - candle would stick if melted in sun or wax get into mechanism, other clamped candle and wax dripped onto bottom. Not better than small LED battery lights, but nice for atmosphere/feel of candle flame light. Dropped onto hardwood floor, aluminum bent some but glass was undamaged.

This lantern takes Tea-light candles which you can find at most department stores. They typically burn between 2 and 4 hours depending on the exact candle you get.
