They stay on and don't twist like the micro spikes. Excellent traction on the ice and bite into crusty snow and very hard ice. Minor con is the balling up of the snow but when anything get wet in winter this would occur. They do get some surface rust but its a minor thing. Ours get abused on rocks, trees and dirt and I have even walked down a paved road with them on to see how they stand up and they are is very good condition for next year. Yes we are buying more!! Comments about Hillsound Trail Crampon: i use these all winter, they are great for the snow and ice. they stay on well, they're not so great on mixed terrain but they do not wear down as quickly as microspikes. the points are longer and the steel is carbon so they are stronger, but not stainless so they have to be brought in to dry after each use or they rust. they also tend to form big snowballs on the bottom when snow is wet and sticky. i like them a lot though!
