Comments about MSR Alpine Cookset: I bought my first set 6 or 7 years ago for backpacking with my kids. It was the first good set of cookware I ever purchased. It holds my MSR Superfly stove in the nested set which maximizes space in my pack while providing a bomb-proof shelter for my stove. I've used the lid to fry fish, etc. it turned black pretty quickly, but is still very usable. I'm usually able to clean the macaroni and cheese off while in camp, but never an issue when I get home. No dents, clean and light.
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about MSR Alpine Cookset: Took these on a week long trip to Utah. Very strong material, even the handle worked flawlessly. Was extremely easy to clean. This set is perfect for 1-2, maybe even 3 people. Don't use the pots/lid as a nonstick material. It isn't intended for that.

Comments about MSR Alpine Cookset: I had this set over 15 years ago and lost it. I love this cookset. The lid triples as a lid/fry pan/plate for both of the pots.

Comments about MSR Alpine Cookset: I have owned this cook set for about 5 years and it is still holding up. I like the quality in MSR products. However it remains dirty looking, it is clean. It is hard to clean this pot out in the field.Food sticks to it pretty quickly under the flame of my stove. I use the large pot and top only and put my MSR Whisper lite inside it. It all fits well. I believe my next purchase will be a Teflon pot.

Q:
Do the two pots nest?1 answer
A:
The two pots nest in the MSR Alpine Cookset.Q:
Do the handles lock on these pots? I have a stainless steel set which I like, however, the handles don't lock.2 answers
A:
Yes, the pots on the Cascade Designs MSR Alpine Cookset have locking handles.A:
No it won't. That pot gripper works like a pair of pliers. Squeeze it closed and use it to lift pots. Let go of it, and the pot gripper will open by force of gravity. It has no locking mechanism. It will not stick on the pot like a handle. I have one. I know how it works.| Weight | 26 oz 737 g |
