Leslie Mass decided to hike the Appalachian Trail at age 60 an age when lots of people are thinking of retiring. Leslie learns a lot as she hikes day after day. She learns how grueling the trail is, and how it is both physically and mentally challenging it is to hike over 2100 miles. But she also learns to rely on herself. She becomes dependant on her trail family (guys) but feels the pace is slowly grinding her down. Just when she figures it out the events of 9/11/2001 unfold and life on the trail doesn't seem so isolated anymore. A fabulous book about human spirit, growth and what it means to be a woman hiking in a man's world. A very good read.- Binding - Hard
